The Honorable James H. Faison III proudly served New Hanover and Pender Counties as a District Court Judge for over 25 years, and looks forward to continuing his steady, principled leadership-one that balances integrity, fairness, and discernment.

Born in New Hanover and raised in Pender County, Reverend James H Faison III proudly calls both communities home. His journey began in the colored ward of Wilmington’s historic James Walker Hospital, the son of lifelong public servants and educators who instilled the values of faith, family, and service. Judge Faison faithfully committed his life to returning the values and morals instilled by his family through community outreach, leadership, and proactive judiciary service. His leadership, expertise, and financial support for local and regional organizations and the state of NC supports youth, families, and underrepresented individuals-a testament to Judge Faison’s personal and professional qualities.

As a young person, he was deeply involved in church, school, athletics, and community programs-from youth choir and junior deacon training to leadership in Pender High School’s ROTC and athletic programs .Following high school graduation, Judge Faison attended North Carolina Central University on a football scholarship, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Thereafter, Judge Faison earned his Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where he served on the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Teams and was selected as Who’s Who Among American Law Students.

Judge James Faison is married to Reverand Angela W. Faison, the love of his life. Their daughter resides in Wake County with her husband and bonus daughter. In every role carried—husband, father, pastor, mentor, community leader, and judge—James H. Faison, III gives thanks to God for the calling to lift people up, whether from the bench, the pulpit, or the heart of the community, and looks forward to continuing a legacy of service for the citizens of New Hanover and Pender Counties as District Court Judge.
